The Apple vs. Samsung patent trial kicked off yesterday with jury selection for the high-profile case.

According to Bloomberg, California district Judge Lucy Koh interviewed 24 jurors for the 10 available spots on the jury.

Potential jurors were asked a variety of questions, including whether they had read stories or books about Google or Apple and what phones they had, All Things D reported. Some had ties to major tech companies, including a Google employee with Android-related patents.

Opening arguments are set for 9 a.m. Pacific today and each side will get 90 minutes to present their case, ATD said.

The fighting continues, however, with both sides submitting paperwork last night concerning exhibits that will be used during testimony in the coming days.

The case dates back to April 2011, when for "slavishly" copying the iPhone and iPad with its Galaxy lineup of devices. Samsung countersued and the case has since spread to dozens of courts around the globe. Apple has had some success in getting the Galaxy Nexus and Galaxy Tab banned in various regions, but it is the California trial that has everyone watching.

The Verge, meanwhile, uncovered documents that suggest Samsung is working on an 11.8-inch tablet with 4G LTE connectivity and a 2,560-by-1,600 display.
