Last night, while most of the hubbub at Lenovo's commemoration of the ThinkPad's 20th anniversary was centered on its , Lenovo also unveiled the ThinkPad 430u ultrabook, coming this month.

While not as svelte as the 3-pound X1 Carbon (slideshow below), the 430u nonetheless sports a remarkably thin chassis that measures 0.83 inch at its thickest point and weighs 4.08 pounds. The 430u is powered by a third-generation Intel Core ULV processor and sports an Integrated Intel HD Graphics processor, as well as an optional discrete Nvidia GeForce GT 620M GPU.

Complementing the 14-inch, 200-nit display is a 720p HD webcam with built-in face-tracking technology. Despite its compact size, the 430u comes equipped with a 1TB HDD that can be configured with either a flash cache or solid-state-drive to allow for faster boot times. In terms of port selection, the 430u's right side has dual USB 3.0 ports, and a full-size HDMI port as well as a mini DisplayPort on the rear side. Battery life is designed to last over seven hours. Of course, it wouldn't be a ThinkPad without the bright red TrackPoint on the center of the keyboard.

The 430u is sprinkled with a few nifty features geared towards business productivity, particularly video- and voice-conferencing. One that immediately stood out is its dual-array of high-definition microphones, which are equipped with "keyboard noise suppression." As the name implies, this mutes the sound of keyboard clicking during video conferencing, thereby allowing clearer communication to the intended listener while facilitating multi-tasking. Moreover, the u430 sports 3G connectivity in addition to Wi-Fi.

The ThinkPad 430u Ultrabook is set to launch this month and will bear a price tag starting at $779.
