OWC updates Mercury Elite Pro Mini for USB 3.0, additional storage

Other World Computing updated their small aluminum enclosure for a USB 3.0 option. The new option gives USB 3.0-equipped Macs the fastest solution for external storage. OWC is selling two versions of the drive, one a quad interface with FireWire 800/400, eSATA, and USB 2.0, and a second option with 6 Gbps eSATA and USB 3.0.

The enclosure matches Apple's aluminum Mac designs, and requires no fan. While under USB and FireWire, the drive also requires no external power.

OWC also announced additional storage options for the enclosures, which can also be purchases as a bare device for DIY kits. Storage options include up to 2 TB HDD running at 5400 RPM, 750 GB HDD running at 7200 RPM, and 480 GB SSD. Pricing starts out at $69.99 for the quad interface and $59.99 for the USB 3.0 model.
