Those pesky aliens are at it again. Instead of kidnapping little kittens, they now want to take all the puppies. Those who are big fans of Kitten Sanctuary as well as anyone who isn’t a cat fan may want to get their hands on this clever game. Puppy Sanctuary has match-3 and simulation elements along with new features like hidden object levels and cannon shooting alien stages that make it a superior game to its predecessor.

Gamers who are not familiar with the previous installment may want to know what all the fuss is about. The main idea behind both of these games is to slide pieces diagonally, vertically and horizontally to create matches. As matches are made, power-ups such as explosions and mixers appear on the screen to help players rack up points. Once gamers achieve a high enough score, the adorable little puppy is released from the alien trap and placed in a sanctuary. There’s a total of 40 puppies to unlock in this game.

As puppies are placed in sanctuaries, gamers must care for them to prevent the little fellows from running away and getting captured by the aliens again. Players must purchase toys and decorations with the gems that they earn in each game. Tapping on a puppy pulls up its biography along with the pup’s mood points. It’s essential to keep the puppies happy by petting them and playing with them. The essentials like food, water and fire wood must be found in the hidden object levels so don’t worry about purchasing these items.

While Kitten Sanctuary has a lite version, Puppy Sanctuary is free with an IAP to unlock the full version. Gamers will be able to rescue five puppies before they are forced to shell out the current $0.99 to unlock the full version. According to the App Store description, it is being sold at half price for a limited time. Players who despise IAPs may initially be disappointed, but this is the only one in the entire game. If you can’t get enough of the adorable puppies, it’s a pretty good deal for the full version.

Although I consider myself a cat person, Puppy Sanctuary definitely outdoes itself. The improved graphics, new toys and decorations, and the fun engaging levels make this a must-have in my book. Since it’s free to try, it doesn’t hurt to give it a chance. Try it out and let us know what you think in the comments below.
