The event will take place Sept. 12 in San Francisco. The invitation’s vague teaser says: “It’s almost here.” It shows an image of the number 12 casting a shadow that forms the number 5, hinting that the next iPhone could be called the iPhone 5. The previous model was the iPhone 4S.
The date of the event had already been reported by several news outlets in July.
Previously, a person with knowledge of Apple’s plans, who did not want to be identified talking about unreleased products, said that the event would be about Apple’s next iPhone.
