LG Intuition 'Phablet' Hits Verizon This Week

Verizon Wireless announced today that it will offer the LG Intuition, the carrier's challenger to the .

The Intuition – a rebranded 4G LTE version of LG's Optimus Vu – will hit digital shelves on Thursday, before rolling into Verizon's brick-and-mortar stores on Sept. 10 for $199.99.

Like the Optimus Vu, the LG Intuition boasts a 5-inch display, 4:3 aspect ratio display, 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and 1.3-megapixel front-facing one, as well as a 1.5-GHz processor. It also comes with a stylus.

The Intuition is built for reading ebooks, watching videos, and Web browsing, Verizon said in a press release. It also comes with the Polaris Office app, the QuickMemo app, and a suite of Amazon applications, including Kindle, Amazon MP3, and IMDb.

LG's "phablet" comes with the ability to switch the device between different phone modes, using the built-in Tag+ app and two reprogrammable Near Field Communications (NFC) stickers, which can be applied to an office door or a bedroom nightstand. Users can tap the NFC sticker with the phone to activate a mode, then tap it again to return to original settings. LG's modes include car, office, sleep, and user, which can control settings like Bluetooth, GPS, Wi-Fi, and others.

The Intuition runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, and can be used as a mobile hotspot to share a 4G LTE connection with up to 10 Wi-Fi enabled devices.

Verizon's online-only promotion fits customers who buy the Intuition between Sept. 6 and 10 with a free LG Tone Stereo Bluetooth headset.

Customers will need to subscribe to a Verizon Wireless plan, which provides in more than 75 percent of the country.
