Review: Pet Fashion – A Cute Animal Dress-Up Game for iOS!

Children’s games is a huge genre in iOS, with so many different games to occupy the minds of little ones. From animals, to games to fashion, everything is covered, and Pet Fashion is a new game from 65Gb Software that combines all three of those categories. Allowing you to dress up a bunny and then take of photo of him augmented reality style, it looks like a game that could be hit with children. Let’s see how it performs.

Overview

The Pet Fashion interface and feel is perfectly suited to kids. The theme tune in the background is jolly, while it’s obvious what all the buttons do (there are only three tabs on the home screen, ‘Wear’, ‘Photo’ and ‘Store’).

Clicking wear allows you to customize the appearance of the bunny. There’s a decent range of accessories, and clothing to choose from, and if you want more you can buy it through the in-app store. Additionally, you can also change the face of the bunny, and also create a bunny with randomly chosen features.

Once you’re happy with it, you can save and use the other main feature of the app, and arguably the USP. The camera feature is pretty cool. Sort of like augmented reality, you can take a picture of the bunny as if he was wherever you are pointing, the lens, and it’s definitely a cool feature for imaginative kids to have.

When you’re done with, you can then share the photo to Facebook or Twitter, as well as save it in your library or email it.

It’s a pretty simple app all things considered, and that is probably the biggest problem. Don’t get me wrong, I love simplicity, but this is a bit too short of features. Calling it ‘Pet Fashion’ is pretty misleading – it should be ‘Rabbit Fashion’. You can’t choose what animal you want to dress up, and honestly, this is the type of app you get bored of after about five minutes, even with the extra in app addons you can buy.

Verdict

I would still download this app if you have children seeing as it’s free, but I wouldn’t be recommending it if you had to pay something. While there are no performance problems, the app is limited, and you kids will probably get bored of it pretty quickly. As such I wouldn’t bother buying any of the in app add ons either.

Give it a go, but don’t be surprised if it doesn’t last a long time.
