There’s no denying that the iPad is a great companion for students. There’s virtually an app for everything ranging from textbooks to calculators. One of the most desired apps is a virtual notebook that serves as more than just a place to write. G8R Software LLC has solved this dilemma with its newly updated app CaptureNotes 2.

CaptureNotes 2 isn’t just another notebook app. It’s an educational tool. Some unique features included in the app are PDF document processing, full screen landscape mode and flag based consolidated notebook creation. These are just the tip of the iceberg.

When users open CaptureNotes 2 for the first time, there are a handful of help notebooks to help them get acquainted with the app. What’s so great about these notebooks is that they encourage interaction with the app as users read through the pages. The first page states “there’s a lot going on in the CaptureNotes 2 Notebook" and that’s no exaggeration. It may seem overwhelming at first, but it won’t take users long to familiarize themselves with how it works.

There’s a brown toolbar at the top of each notebook page that has all the tools necessary for users to get started. A single tap accesses the pen, highlighter, eraser and keyboard tool. Holding onto each of these displays more options like text type, color and pen width. The toolbar also lets users add photos either from the library or directly into the notebook with the iPad’s camera, change the page style like the paper color or template, record notes and share notebook pages and audio recordings with others via Email, Evernote, iTunes or Dropbox.

The new features are what really make CaptureNotes 2 shine. The flag elements let users mark important points in the notebook. It’s a clever way to access notes quickly and easily without having to flip through hundreds of pages. All flags now are completely customizable with 24 unique colors and over 100 icons and it’s possible to build flag groups. There’s also a new PIN based securing locking system, improved PDF importing, binder sharing and better file organization.

With all these new updates, there are a few issues users should be aware of before downloading the app. Some users who updated have reported issues of missing pen strokes, photo repositioning issues in full screen landscape mode and a couple iOS 6 issues. The new 2.1.1 version has been submitted to the App Store so hang tight until then.

Overall, CaptureNotes 2 is an app that every student should have on their iPad. The recent update makes it stand out above the rest. Whether you’re a student, a business executive or a neat freak, this app has a little bit of something for everyone. It’s currently on sale at 80% off so grab it while you can.
