Former U.S. President Dwight D. Eisenhower is accredited for having said, “What is important is seldom urgent and what is urgent is seldom important,” and thus the Eisenhower Method was born. It’s a way to evaluate tasks using the urgent/non urgent and important/unimportant matrix. Tasks that aren’t important or urgent are dropped, but tasks that are important and urgent have an end date and are pushed to the top.

Time management is essential when it comes to juggling more than one project, and that is why B264 developed the EISENHOWER app. Based off the Eisenhower matrix, the app allows users to organize and prioritize their tasks by urgency and importance. This not only helps to lower stress, but it also increases productivity time.

The EISENHOWER app has a simple interface that is designed to make task management a breeze. Users can manage up to 8 tasks on each color-coordinated quadrant which include Do First, Schedule, Delegate and Don’t Do. Tapping on a blank line allows users to enter their task.

The To Do section consists of the Urgent and Important tasks. Touching on the clock next to it opens up the 30 minute timer which can be started, restarted or stopped at any time. The Schedule section shows the Less Urgent, But Important items that display a calendar icon. Tapping adds an event to the calendar. The Delegate section shows the Urgent, But Less Important tasks and it lets users e-mail and assign them to others, and the Neither Urgent Nor Important section is simply a place to remind yourself of tasks that don’t need done or it can be used as a place to leave notes.

When a task is complete, simply swipe to the right and the app strikes it out. It’s then possible to tap on a small “x” and remove it from the list of tasks. A few other interesting features include cloud sync, movable tasks and a free online web version.

While it has everything users desire in a productivity app, there are a few areas where the app can be improved. For instance, while users can restart the timer to add another 30 minutes to a task, there is no way to set the timer to a different time allotment. Also, there’s no iPad version for anyone who desires to use the larger screen nor is there support for landscape mode.

EISENHOWER is a great way to stay on top of tasks, and it’s ideal for anyone who needs a little extra push to get things done. I enjoy that it helps make task management less stressful, and it’s obvious why this method works so well. This productivity app is definitely one that I recommend adding to the collection-- especially for those of us who always make excuses to complete tasks at a later date.
