Jumping out of a plane has never really appealed to me. Call me boring but I like to have my feet securely planted on the ground. In Jumpmaster, the characters not only jump out of planes willingly, they do so under heavy fire from enemy planes and the ground below. Throwing all fear aside, the Jumpmaster soldiers continue to jump confidently towards the ground, risking their lives all for iOS gamer’s entertainment.

The style of gameplay found in Jumpmaster reminds me a lot of games like Jetpack Joyride. The object of the game is to jump repeatedly out of the plane, avoiding obstacles, collecting coins and free falling as long as possible without dying. Much like Jetpack Joyride, points continue to add onto the score the longer players are able to avoid crashing and burning. Unlike Jetpack Joyride, Jumpmaster gives the character weapons to defend themselves from enemy attacks. While the jumper is in the air, enemy planes and enemy jumpers continually attack and the game’s character either needs to dodge the attacks or use different grenades to destroy his foes. The game gives players a certain amount of grenades but more can be purchased using coins that are collected during each jump. As players complete each jump, more and more goals become available that need to be accomplished to progress in the game.

The game gives players a chance to choose between one of two control configurations. The first is to use an on-screen joystick that is typical of a lot of iOS games out there. The other is to use the accelerometer to tilt the device around to maneuver the jumper around the gunfire. I personally prefer the joystick since I tend to be less accurate when tilting my device all around.

Jumpmaster is a free game so I was expecting there to be obstacles that would encourage players to spend money on in-app purchases to buy more items. For the most part, there haven’t been many pushes to spend additional money and for this I am grateful. I do however think that the quality of the game would merit a download price. The developers have done a good job at giving players an addictive and fun game at no cost. I’d recommend giving it a try.
