Why You Shouldn't Ditch Your Laptop For An iPad ...Yet

broken ipadWe love our iPad, but it's not about to replace our laptop anytime soon.

Tablets are functional, portable, and maybe even sexy. But the following four things consistently hold our iPad back from becoming our main computing device.

  • You can type much more quickly on your laptop. It's a weird feeling to hack away on your iPad's software keyboard. While it's totally possible to pair your iPad with a Bluetooth keyboard, your laptop needs no such extra accessory—it's attached and ready at a moment's notice. And you won't have to lift your fingers up and touch the screen for key functions, as you will with an iPad.
  • Your laptop is compatible with more accessories. Sync your phone with your computer. Pull pictures off of a digital camera without an overpriced adapter from Apple. Print or use an external hard drive without being on a Wi-Fi network.
  • Your laptop can run two applications side-by-side. This is very possible on other tablets like the Samsung Note 10.1, but still missing from the iPad. For multitasking superheroes, you can't beat a laptop in this regard.
  • Your laptop can run more demanding software than your iPad. This is what clinches it. Anyone doing in-depth video editing, software development, or specialized business applications will always need to fall back to a laptop.
