MYSTERIOUS GREEN GLOW seen on iPhone 5s

Days after Apple explained the purple haze invading iPhone 5 photos as a holding-it-wrong problem, a new strange colour is tripping out 5-owners. This time a green glow described as a plasma bleed from the edges of the screen is appearing on some of the new handsets.

The green light is momentary, and appears on the unlock screen just after the iPhone has been "woken" from a longish sleep. One user Hazza42 described it this way:

Whenever I wake my iPhone there is a split second where a green glow around the edge of the screen is visible. It's a bit like light leakage but its green and only appears for a fraction of a second after you turn on the screen. It is also sometimes activated by using the slide to unlock, which makes it glow brighter.

The green bleed has been catalogued in various different forums. The issue can't be captured on screenshot suggesting that it is a hardware, not software issue - a sort of "warming-up" problem for the screen.

Several users said that they'd had their green iPhone 5s replaced by Apple Stores on mentioning the problem, others weren't able to replicate it instore and were sent packing by the Apple genii.

The iPhone 5's LCD screen does use a complex new technology that incorporates the colour pixels in the layer of capacitive sensor cells - it's unique, slimmer, packs a lot of pixels in its resolution of 1136x640 pixels per screen, but is a relatively new tech so it's possible there are some issues that weren't picked up in testing.

It does seem to be a minor issue, but users are worried that it could worsen or have other effects on the screen longer term. Uelogy on MacForums says:

it is slightly cool to be honest. I am just worried about the long term potential for more serious issues
