Apple Has To Run Pro-Samsung Ads

This article is more than 10 years old.

I thought this was very amusing indeed. Apple is going to have to run ads in favour of Samsung in the UK.

Well, Apple has just lost the High Court appeal to have that decision overturned, meaning that despite the backhanded compliment, it will still have to run adverts in the press stating that the Korean giant had not copied its tablet designs.

To tell the story simply, Apple had sued Samsung saying that the Galaxy Tablet had copied the iPad. The judge hearing the case said that was clearly nonsense. In fact, he pointed out that as the Galaxy wasn't all that cool it couldn't have been copied from the iPad. With the obvious implication that if it had been copied it would have been much more hip.

So Apple has appealed this ruling to the High Court and has lost again. So, assuming they don't now take it the the Court of Appeals (something that only normally happens if there's a point of law at issue) then they're going to have to run those pro-Samsung ads.

At which point we've got to wonder what on earth they're going to say in them.

"They're pants because they didn't copy us"?

"We're better even if we're not the original"?

"Who wants Korean gear anyway?"

"It's all made in the same Foxconn factory anyway so why not pay more for it? Buy Apple!"

Anyone else got any bright ideas we can try feeding through to the Apple marketing department??
