GoPro Hero3 announced, offers up to 4K video

GoPro announced three light-weight cameras in its new Hero3 lineup. GoPro says the new cameras are 30-percent smaller and 25-percent lighter. Also, all cameras include WiFi, where previous models required an external accessory. The Black Edition includes a WiFi remote, while others are compatible with the the company's $79.99 add-on remote. All models appear to include the same f/2.8, 6 element wide angle lens.

The top end Black edition offers 12 MP stills and 4K video, although that's only at 15 fps. The Black, however, can do pretty impressive modes at lower resolutions with 1080p60, 1440p48 and 720p120. The later mode should be nifty for slow-mo shooting. Other models include the Silver Edition that captures 1080p30 video with 11 MP stills and a White Edition that does 1080p30 with 5 MP stills.

Pricing is $199.99, $ 299.99, and $399.99 for the White, Silver, and Black editions. Shipping is expected to begin next week with White and Silver, and November for the Black.
