Solebon Pro Solitaire Review

Gone are the days when people broke out a stack of cards to challenge themselves to a quick game of solitaire. These card games were a huge success on computer platforms, so it’s no surprise that they have migrated over to iOS. There’s plenty of solitaire games available in the App Store, which is why gamers have a hard time deciding which one to download.

Solebon Pro Solitaire is unique in that it features over 134 games of solitaire. If you name it, this game probably has it. They range from Baker’s Game and Castles in Spain to Shifting and Wanning Moon.

All the games are centered around solitaire’s main objective, which is for one person to use up all the cards by placing them in different arrangements and sequences. A game can be played in either landscape or portrait mode. When it's time to play, players can select from the long list by tapping on the button in the upper left corner of the screen. There are three ways to view games: alphabetically, similar games and favorites.

When a game is started, players are able to view their total number of moves, time and stock at the bottom of the screen. There are five buttons located in the upper right corner that offer all the other features available. Players can start a new game, restart their current game, move aces up, and undo a move. The information button is perhaps the most important as it shows players the rules of the game, lets them view stats and presents a multitude of options that include things like showing moves and reversing the layout to adjusting the card speed and changing the background color.

Solebon Pro Solitaire presents users with a clean interface and over a hundred fun games to play, but there isn’t anything special about this game. In fact, I found it to be a little boring and bland. I’ve played other solitaire games that offer players a lot more options. For instance, there’s no way to change the deck backgrounds and there aren’t any sound effects, intelligent hints, achievements or scoring options. Without more features, it’s hard to justify shelling out $3.99 for this game when there are cheaper alternatives.

Solebon Pro Solitaire isn’t a bad game if you can get past not having these extra features. The interface and layout look more professional than most solitaire games designed for the iPad, and it boasts that it’s for “refined solitaire players.” It comes with a hefty price tag, but it also includes more games than most. It’s perfect for die-hard solitaire fans, but I’d wait for an update or price drop for casual gamers who are thinking about purchasing this one.
