Apple releases Lightning to VGA/HDMI video adapters

When Apple released the iPhone 5 and iPod touch with its new Lightning connector, the old video connectors no longer worked. Kind of a bummer if you were looking to make a physical link with a TV, monitor, or projector. Apple released some 30-pin to Lightning adapters, but those adapters don't work for video. The adapters aren't a straight pin to pin conversion as the new Lightning port is an all digital link.

So Tuesday Apple filled that gap with a Lightning version of its VGA and HDMI adapter. The two adapters provide video to analog VGA and digital video and audio via HDMI. The HDMI adapter, like its previous version, also as a USB port so you can charge the device while running audio/video.

Apple is selling both adapters for $49
