Twitter tests 'star' and 'like' buttons in place of 'favorite'

Star, +1, favorite, like, reblog, retweet, repost, share ... there are so many ways to express your enjoyment of a social media post that it's hard to keep track of which implies what and which belongs to which social media network. And now, Twitter's testing out some new buttons to add to the confusion.

According to the Next Web's Matthew Panzarino, some Twitter users are seeing "like" or "star" where they'd normally see "favorite" on the Twitter website. It is unclear whether the new labels will replace the existing "favorite" button anytime soon or if Twitter is testing how a minor language tweak might go over with users. (My money's on the latter, for now.)

We have reached out to Twitter to find out more about this little test and what it might mean.
