I’m huge fan of the BioShock video game franchise. Honestly, I thought the original title was one of the best and most original shooters in all of video game history. So I was understandably excited when BioShock Infinite was announced, and understandably bummed when the game slipped from its original launch date of mid-October.
The game is now set to hit store shelves on February 26, 2013, assuming no other issues are encountered. While the original BioShock, which is a survival horror game that launched in October of 2008, was set underwater, the new game is set in a floating city. The first sequel to the original BioShock game was titled BioShock 2 and launched in February of 2010.
The original game was set in a steam punk late 50s era that had players assumiung the role of a crash survivor named Jack as he explored the underwater city of Rapture packed full of mutated humans and other beings as well as mechanical monstrosities. The game was described as a “spiritual successor” to the System Shock series. All I know is that the game was incredibly fun and is still one of my favorites.
You can pre-order BioShock Infinite right now at Gamestop and other locations if you want. However, if you want to get an interesting bonus game you can play with your pre-order for BioShock Infinite, you’ll need to go to Gamestop. Gamestop is offering a pre-order reward of a full and separate puzzle game called BioShock Infinite: Industrial Revolution.
Essentially, the stand-alone game is a flash-based puzzler that puts the player in the shoes of a factory worker within the BioShock Infinite world. The player is required to complete puzzles that support one of the two factions in the game, with 50 separate levels to cycle through. As not above, the game is only available to those who pre-order.
