HP wants to help support more mobile devices at SMBs too

Hewlett-Packard is tuning into the mobile trend with a new strategy focused particularly on small to mid-size businesses.

Most of the new solutions being announced today are designed for backend IT work for supporting the escalating number of mobile devices at work.

One example is HP StoreVirtual Storage, a scalable platform that is really designed to be as simple as possible for SMBs with smaller IT resources.

Essentially, StoreVirtual is supposed to enable SMBs to be able to add physical storage without disrupting existing systems to they can move data across either virtual or physical storage in just a few clicks.

HP is also further trying its hand at supporting specific third-party systems. In this case, it's furthering the collaboration with Citrix.

The HP Client Virtualization SMB Reference Architecture for Citrix VDI-in-a-Box has been upgraded to support 50 percent more users than the previous version while also giving employees remote access to company desktops, apps and servers from anywhere, anytime.

Here's a glance at other major SMB offerings being introduced from HP today:

• HP StoreEasy Storage: Single storage solution with native Windows integration. Designed to support workloads with built-in deduplication and encryption for up to 10,000 users
• HP Learning Initiative for Entrepreneurs: The e-Learning program provides cloud-based online training sessions for improving key IT and business skills. The training, which includes webinars and other resources, comes at no additional cost for current HP customers.

The HP Client Virtualization SMB Reference Architecture for Citrix VDI-in-a-Box with Citrix Personal vDisk technology is available today. Several more storage and access point solutions will be rolling out throughout November and December.
