Forget tech bloggers writing for people who already spend half their time thinking about gadgets anyway – one review is worth more than all of those put together. While some may have given Microsoft’s new Surface tablet high marks for design despite hammering it on the operating system, Oprah loves it, and that’s good news for Microsoft.

Oprah put the tablet on her list of favorite things in time for the Holiday season, along with Beats by Dre earbuds and a Josh Groban album. Here’s her review:

"The Surface, Microsoft's first tablet, feels like a Mercedes-Benz to me, people! The full-size keyboard built right into the cover makes work easy, the very smart kickstand makes watching a movie or Skyping a friend a delight, the less than a pound-and-a-half weight makes a great alternative to a laptop, and the many other features make it fun for work and play. Now, that's a wowser!"

The Surface is still likely to have a hard time going head to head against Apple’s flagship iPad, but an endorsement from Oprah is always a solid shot in the arm. From beauty products to books, the Oprah Effect can take a struggling product and turn it into a household name.
