Epic Adventures: Cursed Onboard continues from its predecessor and offers some hidden object gaming that's lacking in great quality.

The latest Epic Adventures game, Cursed Onboard, suffers from very similar flaws to its predecessor La Jangada. It's a respectable enough Hidden Object game but one that never rises above being simply "OK" and nothing more than that.

The story follows a typical mysterious theme and connects with the earlier Epic Adventures game. It's spooky enough but it's not really the most gripping of tales. Instead, it just breaks up the action. Action that doesn't stand out quite as strongly as it should.

Hidden Object scenes are very much the focus here, with few other puzzles to tantalize the casual gaming tastebuds. These scenes are moderately entertaining, especially when faced with a proverb explaining why it's bad to mistap too often, but it suffers from one crucial flaw: confusion. The descriptions of items aren't always as clear as they should be, meaning often I found myself stumped on one particular clue and having to resort to using a hint. Something that no self respecting Hidden Object fan wants to have to do if they can help it.

Similar confusion comes from figuring out where to go next as it's really not clear what route to take when exploring the world that Epic Adventures: Cursed Onboard has conjured up. Random tapping is all too common and frustrating and again, hints are too tempting to see where to go next. These hints refill slowly, too, hindering progress.

I had some fun completing the Hidden Object scenes but it wasn't substantial enough to recommend Epic Adventures: Cursed Onboard. While it might be a good solution for avid gamers who have exhausted the extensive genre's supply, I'd struggle to recommend it above other more entertaining examples.
