This all-in-one exercise app offers many great features and is able to track a variety of exercise activities and provide detailed results. But not without a price.

The iPhone has become a faithful friend of exercise enthusiasts. I have employed several different apps into my various exercise routines that have helped me to know how far I run and cycle to track my progress. Bit of Exercise is yet another app designed to be the all-in-one resource for tracking users’ exercise progress for a variety of different activities.

There are a lot of different apps out there that are designed to track only one type of exercise activity like running or cycling. There are also others that incorporate all of these activities into one. Bit of Exercise not only tracks walking, running and cycling, but it also tracks just about any other physical activity from cross-country skiing to kayaking. Using the iPhone’s build-in GPS, Bit of Exercise tracks distance and other important metrics to help users keep track of their progress. Once an exercise is completed, the app will present all the activity information in a nice format, complete with graphs. I really like the detail that the app is able to go into. From what I’ve been able to tell, Bit of Exercise is accurate with its measurements and it seems to produce similar results that I've seen from other exercise apps.

One feature that I really liked about Bit of Exercise is the ability to pause my workout when I stop running. Other apps I’ve used just keep a constant clock ticking. Bit of Exercise is able to sense when the user stops and the workout progress stops with them. I also like that the app lets users choose when to end their activity. For example, it allows users to end the exercise when they reach a certain distance, time or location.

The user interface is basic and doesn’t have many eye-catching aspects to it. I found the layout to be a little clunky and it’s not clear from the start how to begin a workout. I had to go into the app a few levels to finally be able to start a new run. For the price of the app I’d expect it to be a little more user-friendly.

Overall I’d have to say that I have enjoyed using this app. Once I was able to learn how to navigate within the app properly, I was able to really tap into all of its capabilities. At $4.99, Bit of Exercise is definitely carries a high premium, but it does have a lot of great features that many other apps do not offer. If cost is no option, Bit of Exercise is well worth the investment.
