Google TV Gains Access To Music & Movies In The UK, Germany And France Next Week

Following news last month which saw Google TV users gaining access to Google Play movies, TV and music here in the U.S., Google has announced today that it will now deliver movies and music to select markets in Europe. According to a post on Google TV’s Google+ page, movies and music will be available in the U.K., Germany and France starting on November 13th.

Last month, Google had also announced that it was bringing music to Google Play in Europe on November 13th. The company told users via a post on the Google blog that this would reach those in the U.K, France, Germany, Italy and Spain, who will be able to purchase music from the Google Play store and add up to 20,000 songs for free from existing music collections. Once in Google’s cloud, the music can be streamed to Android devices or through the web browser, the company said.

In today’s Google TV announcement, Google also apologized for an earlier post which promised more countries would be added to the platform on 11/13, indicating that perhaps some of its earlier plans had hit a roadblock. The countries Google was referring to were Canada and Australia.

Google has had a tough time rolling out movies, music and TV to its Google TV devices this year due to issues licensing content from studios and labels. In June, the company had pre-announced its intentions to add more content to its platform through a software update – saying that those new sections were “coming soon” – but it wasn’t until October that the updates actually began to roll out here in the U.S.
