Belkin strikes with first Lightning accessories for latest Apple mobile devices

By

Belkin claims to be first to market with accessories for the Lightning connector used on the iPhone 5, iPad mini, and the latest iPad and iPod touch.

Belkin has opened its range of Lighting accessories with a car charger and a dock that uses Apple's own cable.

The Belkin Car Charger for Lightning ($39.95) features a 1.2m cable and is rated at 10W (2.1A) with over-voltage protection.

It is an updated version of Belkin's existing car charger.

Belkin Lightning Dock

The Belkin Charge + Sync Dock ($44.95) works with the standard Apple Lighting cable.

It features a magnetic base and an audio-out port, and can be used with an iPhone 5 that is fitted with a case.

"Belkin ANZ is thrilled to announce that we will be first to market with solutions for the new Apple Lightning connector," said Brendan Sparks, head of marketing and product management ANZ.

"We were the first third-party manufacturer to develop accessories for the 30-pin connector back in 2003 and we continue this today with the Lightning connector".

Mr Sparks added "There has been substantial interest and demand for Lightning accessories since the launch of the new Apple connector.

"Belkin's Lightning solutions will provide users with a stylish and reliable way to keep their new iPhone 5, iPad 4th generation, iPad mini or iPod touch charged, protected, and ready to go."

Both products are available immediately.
