StatNut looks delightful but it lacks any extensive features to make it more than just an attractive hub to access social networking accounts.

StatNut is a social networking tracking app that's a delight to look at and use. It's simple to set up, while keeping a clear, minimalist yet attractive interface throughout. Problems lie, however, in terms of its functionality as there's not a huge amount you can do within StatNut, relying heavily on mobile site access.

Users add as many or as few social networking accounts to the app as they wish or use. Support is available for major networks such as Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram and Tumblr, as well as less frequently used services such as Dribble and Vimeo. In each case, it's a simple matter of entering the username and password for the account before being able to access it through StatNut.

A list of the social networks added is unveiled on the front screen, offering pertinent details such as follower count, amount of times the user has used the network (such as by tweeting or posting), with more specific and relevant details also offered. YouTube details include video numbers for instance, while Twitter offers favorites and the amount of times the account has been added to a list.

Such simplicity is a double edged sword. It makes StatNut immediately accessible but it also severely limits functionality. In all but Instagram's case, the app links users to the mobile site rather than any official app. There's no further interactivity within StatNut, no ability to add content even or view other people's.

This gives way to the idea that StatNut is more of a portal than full app of its own. This would be fine for free, but at $0.99, it feels like a slightly expensive outer shell, best reserved for those keen to have such an attractive hub to access their tools.
