OS X: Evernote 5, previously launched in beta, is now out for Mac users. The first thing you'll notice after updating the note-taking app is it looks beautiful (something few would say of the previous Evernote versions). Evernote also has dramatically improved search and sharing.
Evernote has completely redesigned the Mac desktop app. In the new left panel, you can add shortcuts to your favorite notes, notebooks, or tags. A new notebooks view shows notebooks in a grid (kind of like Springpad's notebook view). And the new tags list highlights tags related to any selected tag—that's pretty handy. You can switch back to the full tag or notebook list by right-clicking on it and selecting to display the list in the left panel.
There are over 100 new improvements to Evernote in this update. Three of the most important and useful are the new type ahead search and search suggestions, better highlighting of shared notes and notebooks (e.g., updates are shown in Mountain Lion's notification center), and the Atlas, which shows your notes on a map (great for travelers).
If you're a hardcore Evernote user, the update might take some getting used to. It's definitely much more attractive to use, though. You can pick it up in the Mac App Store.
