In Crumble Zone, Gamers help a little green fellow launch missiles and other weapons from his head to take out asteroids that are trying to crash into his planet. The adorable alien needs help spinning and shooting everything in sight so that his planet doesn’t get smashed into smithereens.

The main character looks like a modern day Snork. He is able to shoot projectiles from the antenna-like extension on the top of his head whenever gamers tap on the fire button. The trick is to ensure that his antenna is facing the right way by tapping on the left and right arrows on the left side of the screen.

The controls on the iPad are staggered and there’s no way to move them. However, it is possible to not touch the buttons as long as a finger is close in proximitiy. I found it easier to sort of slide my thumb to the left from the right button and it still played fine. These arrows are used to move the creature around his planet, but they also are used to shoot in a desired direction.

When the asteroids are taken out, diamonds fall from the sky and increase the points value which is displayed in the center of the planet. Gamers may wish to save some of these diamonds when things get tricky as they help move the asteroids away from the planet.

Along with using diamonds to help progress in the game, players also have access to eight special weapons. These power-ups are displayed under the fire button and are awarded for accuracy. In order to get access to all of them, gamers must unlock them on the power-up screen. Don't worry, there aren't any in-app purchases in this game. It's all based on how well gamers play.

The asteroids range in size and intensity as players level up, which is where the power-ups come into play. The goal is to get the best score possible. The stats for each game are displayed at the end once the planet is destroyed by the asteroids. There are Game Center achievements and leaderboards as well as ranks to earn for those who like to compete. In addition to Game Center, there is also a multiplayer mode available.

There’s little to complain about other than the desire for more game modes as well as an option to move the on-screen controls. Overall, Crumble Zone is a simple game, but it’s also hard to master. The graphics really pop, and the gameplay is quite addicting. Players will definitely get plenty of bang for their buck in this highly recommendable title.
