Yahoo on Tuesday introduced a brand new version of its popular email service, which is speedier, "more intuitive, and easier to navigate."

The latest version comes with a more user-friendly interface, aiming to give users quicker access to email, Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer announced this morning on Yahoo's blog. It will be available for all major platforms, including the Web, as well as smartphones, and tablets running Apple's iOS, Google's Android, and Microsoft's Windows 8. This is the Yahoo's first major product announcement since Mayer .

"You've told us loud and clear that you want fewer distractions when it comes to email," Mayer wrote. "You want to quickly login, communicate, and get on with your day. And we've listened."

Whether you're accessing Yahoo Mail from your desktop or mobile device, the service will now have a consistent look and feel across platforms, Mayer said.

The new Yahoo Mail apps for mobile devices let you access your inbox with just one tap, according to descriptions in Apple's App Store and Google Play. There's also continuous scroll functionality so you can scan the messages in your inbox without interruption.

When composing a message, the app auto-completes email addresses as you type. When you need to add an image, the app will let you attach photos or take new one while composing a message, and also preview photo thumbnails right at the top of a message.

On the organization front, swiping left on any message will let you delete, flag, move, or mark it as read. Or, you can select multiple messages in your inbox for even faster organization. When looking for a message, the app lets you search through all messages across folders.

The new and improved Yahoo Mail apps are available now for iOS, Android, and Windows 8. The new Web version will be rolling out "over the next few days."
