Apple Hires New Corporate Controller Luca Maestri Away From Xerox

Xerox announced today that Luca Maestri, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, is leaving the company as of February 28, in order to take the position of corporate controller at Apple. The company has already initiated a search for a replacement, and Maestri will stay on through the end of February to assist in the transition.

Maestri joined Xerox as CFO back in February 2011, after previously serving in the same position at Nokia Siemens Networks, which he had joined in 2008. He had also worked at GM.

At Apple, he will replace Betsy Rafael, Reuters notes, who retired in October. The report also says Maestri took home $3.3 million as compensation for 2011, according to a regulatory filing.

In a statement released today, Xerox said it was on track to meet its fourth quarter guidance, which include GAAP earnings per share of 24 to 26 cents or adjusted earnings per share of 28 to 30 cents. Xerox will announce its fourth-quarter and full-year 2012 earnings on January 24.

“Luca is a stellar finance executive whose contributions have brought great value to the transformation of Xerox into a services enterprise,” said Ursula Burns, Xerox chairman and chief executive officer, in a press release. “He’s helped strengthen our financial foundation, which will serve his successor, our company and our shareholders well for the long term.”

As TNW reports, Maestri will work under Apple’s senior vice president and Chief Financial Officer Peter Oppenheimer, who handles the “controller, treasury, investor relations, tax, information systems, internal audit and facilities functions.”
