Our lives can get pretty busy these days. Keeping tasks straight and organized can sometimes be a headache. Even worse is the procrastination that creeps in, encouraging us to delay our mountain of daily tasks. The iPhone is a great tool for keeping track all our daily tasks using the myriad of productivity and to-do list apps out there. Finish for iPhone is one of the latest to-do list apps with a fresh perspective on helping us stay organized and as procrastination free as possible.

I’ve used many of the different list apps out there but none of them have stuck. I keep going back to stock iOS apps like Reminders to keep myself on track but I still find myself wanting to try something different. What I like about Finish is that it keeps my list of things to do in order of the most time sensitive so I can see what items need immediate attention. The idea behind Finish is to organize tasks into one of three time intervals: short-term, mid-term and long-term. The short-term items will appear at the top of the list along with their due date. The intervals can be set manually depending on user preferences. My short-term interval is set 0-2 days so I have everything I need to do within that time frame at the top of my list. Finish features a setting called “Focus Mode” which will only show a few items in the mid and long-term intervals and hide the rest so users don’t get overwhelmed by all the items on their list. This mode can be very helpful for anyone who is as scatter-brained as I am keep their focus on the things that really matter.

The interface is very easy to navigate and doesn’t need much explanation. There are very few features and settings to play around which can be good and bad. I personally think it’s good because I like simplicity but it would be nice if the app included a more detailed alert system that could be set up for each item to remind me of approaching deadlines at different time intervals. Other than that, I’d say the app has just enough features to be both simple and powerful.

At this point I’m not sure if Finish will end up sticking in the long run for me or if I’ll revert to my old ways. But for now, I’ve enjoyed using it, I will continue to use it and I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a nice, clean to-do list app to keep them organized and on track.
