Temple Run 2 becomes fastest growing mobile game with 50M downloads in under 2 weeks

After previously announcing 20 million downloads in just four days for its new Temple Run 2 title, developer Imangi Studios announced today that the game has now become the fastest growing mobile game ever with 50 million downloads in under two weeks. That beats the old record of 50 million downloads in 35 days held by Rovio’s Angry Birds Space since April 2012. Temple Run 2 originally launched on the App Store on Jan. 17 and reached over 6 million downloads in just 24 hours.

Imangi Studios today announced that Temple Run 2 has been downloaded over 50 million times on iOS, Android and Kindle devices. Reaching the milestone in 13 days breaks the previously set record for the fastest growing mobile game*… Following a release on Google Play and Amazon Marketplace, the sequel continued its record-breaking success, racing to the #1 spot, respectively, in each store.

Imangi co-founder Keith Shepherd said the following about the game’s success:

Temple Run has evolved into something so much bigger than us,” says Keith Shepherd, co-founder of Imangi. “The game has performed beyond our wildest dreams, and we are thrilled that gamers and fans have embraced Temple Run 2 in such a short period of time.”
