The good people at Tapscape are not against jailbreaking and the freedom to… OK, not going there. Nevertheless, waiting for a more mature version of the evasi0n jailbreak seemed a prudent thing to do at the time and all the more so now. What got fixed in evasi0n 1.1 and what’s still a problem? Step inside.

evasi0n.com has released version 1.1 of their eponymous iOS 6.x jailbreaking tool. Although there are certainly some outstanding issues, the one notable thing addressed with this update affects only those that haven’t yet used evasi0n jailbreak.

evasi0n 1.1 has been released on the site with the latest fixes. You may have to clear your browser’s cache to see it. Note that you do not need to download evasi0n 1.1 if you’ve already jailbroken.

Again, if you already jailbroke your iPhone, iPod touch and/or iPad running iOS 6 using evasi0n 1.0, you don’t need to apply the hack using v1.1.

So, the big deal, if it can be called that, with evasi0n 1.1 is that it fixes the long boot issue some users experienced after applying version 1.0 of this hack.

A fix for the Weather app issue? Nope, though there is a manual workaround that sets things right. So, back up your jailbusted iThing and get ready for a lot of typing and/or copy/paste mayhem to fix the Weather app issue.

Yes, the workaround is rather involved. Fixing the issue in the jailbreak would have been the right thing to do.

Alas, that’s not what we got.

Last but not least, there’s another workaround for iPhone 5 users experiencing app scaling issues — [Jailbreak Tweak] Use FullForce to Scale Apps to Fit iPhone 5 .

Did the evasi0n jailbreak, either v1.0 or 1.1, work for you? If not, what failures are you experiencing?
