Haze Is a Gesture Friendly, Visually Rich Weather App for iPhone that Doesn’t Skimp on Features

iOS: Haze is a weather app that looks simple at first blush, but behind its minimal, color-coded UI is a weather of weather information, all easily available using a few simple gestures that will give you current coditions, the forecast, hourly changes, and much more.

The video above will give you an idea of what Haze looks like, but what you don't really see in the video is how easy it is to get to some of the app's features. Fire it up and the icons at the bottom of the screen let you toggle between current conditions, hours remaining until sunset or sunrise, and percent chance of precipitation. The color of the background even shows you the trend for each screen, whether it's getting brighter or darker, warmer or cooler outside as the day progresses, and so on.

Swipe down from the top of the screen to see the weekly forecast for any of those three screens, and keep swiping to access the app's settings. Tap the bubble in the center of the screen to expand it out to more useful information. For example, on the current conditions display, tapping the current temperature will show you the high and low for the day, wind chill or heat index, wind speed and direction, and so on. Hit the link below for a mockup video of the app in action on the developers' website.

Haze isn't a meteorologist's app for sure: it doesn't offer nearly as much information as many may want in a weather app. What it does though is give you an attractive, interactive way to get weather information you need without overwhelming you with data you might not. It's available now in the iTunes App Store for $1 (the developers say they'll eventually bump it up to $3, so grab it now while it's on sale if you're interested.)
