Grammar Pop HD Review

It's a well-known fact that people learn faster and more effectively when they're having fun at the same time. Anyone with experience learning the different parts of speech will also tell people that learning it in a traditional fashion is rarely very enjoyable. Fortunately, Grammar Pop HD bounds onto the App Store demonstrating that it's possible to have fun learning such things.

The app is a word game focused on helping young and old distinguish the different parts of grammar. During each level, players are presented with a simple sentence with success dictated by how quickly they label each word. It sounds ridiculously simple, but it turns out that it's all too easy to have forgotten some very simple rules of grammar.

Fortunately, Grammar Pop HD gradually introduces the concepts to the player with introductory text as well as a fairly generous time limit (early on). Starting out, there's simply the need to pick out nouns and verbs, which is pretty easy to do. Soon enough though, gerunds and participles play a role and things start getting much more varied.

Grammar Pop HD has a decent learning curve though, gradually easing one into such practices. More importantly, it's quite fun to figure out, too.

Where Grammar Pop HD falters somewhat is in terms of the competition it offers. There's no way of comparing scores with other players or sharing results. Doing particularly well earns the player some coins, but these don't actually go towards anything other than the brief satisfaction of a job well done.

Such limited options don't stop Grammar Pop HD being a great educational game. With the choice of being timed or a more relaxed mode, there's something for every level of ability - although it would have been nice to compete in some way. For those with kids learning the different parts of speech or simply those who want to know more, it's a great purchase either way.
