Terraria for iOS soon to be updated with Hard Mode, combat targeting and more

August 27, 2014

The iOS edition of Terraria is about to get a big update.

According to 505 Games, the publisher of the acclaimed indie sandbox adventure game developed by Re-Logic, the update is set to add the much-requested Hard Mode, which is already found in the game’s desktop and console versions.

Hard Mode is activated by defeating the Wall of Flesh. It’s highlighted by the introduction of new biomes, new bosses, new enemies, new items, new non-player characters, and the ability to use the Pwnhammer to destroy Demon Altars and create new ores.

Note that due to the performance requirements of Hard Mode, the new version of Terraria is compatible with iOS 6.1 or later and is optimized for the following devices: iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5s, fifth-generation iPod touch, iPad 2, third-generation iPad, fourth-generation iPad, iPad Air, iPad mini, and iPad mini with Retina display.

In addition to Hard Mode, the upcoming Terraria update is set to bring combat targeting for aiming at enemies and Everyplay support for recording and sharing gameplay videos.

Having been submitted for approval by Apple’s App Store review team, the update is expected to come out “any day.” Of course, we’ll let you know as soon as the update is released.

Terraria is available on the App Store for $4.99.

The game was released on iOS almost exactly a year ago. For more information, check out our original review of Terraria here on AppAdvice.
