You know those three FX-8000 processors AMD is supposed to introduce on Labor Day? Well, we may now know their specs. Or at least, the folks over at X-bit labs are claiming that they do.
According to X-bit labs, the litter of new CPUs will comprise the FX-8370, FX-8370E, and FX-8320E. The FX-8370 looks like a slightly speedier successor to the FX-8350, while the models with "E" suffixes seem to be lower-TDP variants of their non-E brethren. (That's the case with the FX-8370E, anyhow. The site doesn't list specs for the FX-8320E other than its 95W TDP, but the implication is that it's a lower-wattage version of the FX-8320.)
Assuming I didn't misconstrue anything, the updated FX-8300 lineup should look like so:
Model | Modules | Threads | Base core clock speed |
Max Turbo clock speed |
L3 cache | TDP | Price |
FX-8370E | 4 | 8 | 4.1 GHz | 4.3 GHz | 8 MB | 95 W | $189.00 |
FX-8370 | 4 | 8 | 4.1 GHz | 4.3 GHz | 8 MB | 125 W | $189.00 |
FX-8350 | 4 | 8 | 4.0 GHz | 4.2 GHz | 8 MB | 125 W | $189.99 |
FX-8320E | 4 | 8 | 3.5 GHz | 4.0 GHz | 8 MB | 95 W | ? |
FX-8320 | 4 | 8 | 3.5 GHz | 4.0 GHz | 8 MB | 125 W | $159.99 |
X-bit labs quotes $189 price tags for both the FX-8370 and FX-8370E, which tells me the FX-8350 will get either a price cut or a dignified send-off. The fate of the FX-8320, meanwhile, is unclear.
We'll find out for sure on September 1, which is when the rumor mill expects AMD to unwrap these new offerings.
