MyScript Stack and MyScript Stylus Bring Market-Leading Handwriting Input Method to iOS 8 Users and Developers
Nantes, France (PRWEB) September 18, 2014 -- MyScript®, the acknowledged market leader in accurate, high-performance handwriting recognition and digital ink management technology, announces two input panel applications that offer user-friendly alternatives to keyboard entry. Both applications run on any iOS 8 device, regardless of size. The core technology featured in the apps is also available to developers who want to create note-taking applications, education applications, games and more.
The first application available is MyScript Stack, which allows superimposed input (also known as overwriting) in a single character interface. The input panel allows users to continuously and quickly write characters on top of each other, making short text entry convenient and efficient. Users can easily input phone numbers, look up names in address books, compose tweets, and write chat or SMS messages with their fingertips. The handwritten input is instantly recognized and converted to digital text. MyScript Stack can be used anywhere, at any time, and particularly in situations where focusing on a standard keyboard is not always convenient (walking, watching, listening, face-to-face chatting).
The second application is MyScript Stylus which provides text entry in natural writing mode, cursive, and hand printing using a stylus or finger. This is useful in any application requiring text entry such as email, text editing, calendar, a web browser, etc. To help users write long words and phrases, the panel area scrolls over progressively and delivers a truly natural writing experience.
Both MyScript Stack and MyScript Stylus share common functionalities enabling users to easily correct and edit content using candidates and intuitive gestures like insert, overwrite, erase, split or line breaks. Both input panels work in any application and support 58 languages. MyScript Stack is available now on the App Store. MyScript Stylus for iOS 8 will be available later in September.
"We are excited to offer MyScript handwriting recognition technology as an input method and keyboard alternative to iOS 8 users,” said Denis Manceau, Director of Global Product Management, MyScript. “We feel that handwriting is the most natural and user-friendly way to enter content and are thrilled that Apple is supporting third party input methods. This is also hugely beneficial for developers who want to meet consumer demand and leverage handwriting in their applications for iOS 8.”
Developers can leverage the technology showcased in the iOS 8 applications by joining the MyScript Developer Program. The program and self-service web portal provides developers with immediate access to developer toolkits, a robust forum for peer support and knowledge sharing, and additional resources such as documentation, videos, and webinars.
