Fold pieces of paper to create platforms for a princely rabbit in this puzzle game; something that isn't as beguiling as you'd think.

A change of perspective is a wise move at regular points in your life. Never has that been the case more so than when it comes to paper folding game, Fold the Adventure. It’s an idea that doesn’t entirely work, but it’s reasonably innovative.

Your objective during each level is to guide Prince Nezo the rabbit to the exit. Along the way are stars that can be collected to prove just how good you are. It sounds simple enough, but it’s Fold the Adventure’s execution that makes things trickier. You have to cut and fold the paper backdrop in order to create platforms for the rabbit to hop onto.

Figuring out how what you cut on a 2D backdrop will affect things when you switch to a 3D view is quite the head spinner and takes a bit of time to get to grips with. Just as you’re figuring things out, Fold the Adventure further adds to the challenge by including enemies and obstacles that can’t be cut through. The former proves to be Fold the Adventure’s downfall as this is a game that benefits from thinking about a problem, rather than feeling rushed into making a decision.

Controls are a simple matter of cutting, folding, and undoing a mistake, but they’re not quite speedy enough to work when up against opposition. Fold the Adventure could also do with a hints system, even if it was potentially tied into some in-app purchases, as things do get tough after a time.

Soon enough, with frustration a little too prevalent, Fold the Adventure gradually loses its charming exterior. It might look quite delightful, but it offers a difficulty spike that will soon prove off-putting.
