Bierhaus Customers Can Now Order and Pay for Their Beers and Brats From the Table, Thanks to a New iPhone 6 Bierhaus App and Apple Pay

Prototype App Developed by Clover Enhances the Order and Pay Experience, Streamlines Restaurant Operations

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--()--When partners Mike Finley and Scott Snyder refreshed Steak Out restaurant as Bierhaus last year, they were eager to tap innovative technology to both enhance the customer experience and streamline business operations.

True to their word, beginning today, Bierhaus customers with an iPhone 6® can use the new Bierhaus app to both order that lager and bratwurst from their tables as well as pay for it via Apple Pay™, all without waiting for a check. With the touch of a finger, patrons will be able to order and pay with no sign-in or credit card credentials needed, making the process as simple as downloading an app from the Apple App Store™. When patrons order through the Bierhaus app, order information is seamlessly integrated with Bierhaus’ innovative Clover Station point-of-sale (POS) system, pushing the orders straight to the kitchen and bar.

“With my background in tech and serving a tech clientele in this area, I wanted to see how we could improve the ordering and payment experience for customers, while retaining a relaxed, authentic German restaurant environment. I also wanted to integrate technology that would allow us to customize our POS system and ensure our staff is working as efficiently as possible,” Finley said.

The Bierhaus app builds on Finley’s earlier decision to deploy Clover Network’s Clover Station POS system, specifically designed to create an optimal experience for customers and merchants alike. Its features include a unique pivot arm that allows the merchant and customer to position the screen to the most comfortable position for them, a high-speed printer that also acts as a power and connectivity hub, and a cash drawer. Clover also offers a first of its kind Clover App Market that allows Finley to customize the system to Bierhaus’ unique needs.

“We were eager to work with Mike and his team to create an app designed to enhance the Bierhaus experience,” said Mark Schulze, vice president of business development at Clover Network. “We also worked with Mike to test a set of new features that will enhance the purchase experience for any merchant that creates their own app from the Clover App Market.”

Clover developers worked with Bierhaus to develop a prototype app that enables customers to easily and quickly navigate Bierhaus’ menu, place an order and pay with Apple Pay, requiring no additional credit credentials and login. The nearby Clover Station POS system prints order information for servers and a receipt for the customer. A tokenization process, whereby the customer’s phone transmits a randomly-generated 16-digit number (token) in place of actual credit card data, protects the customer’s sensitive information. This app will be available in the near future for other merchants in the Clover App Market to download and customize for their businesses.

About Bierhaus

Bierhaus serves authentic German food, American food, beer and other beverages in a relaxed, biergarten style environment in downtown Mountain View. A former Silicon Valley software executive, founder Mike Finley is a self-professed bread geek. When he left the high tech world, he started baking loaves and hasn’t looked back. Partner Scott Snyder started to brew his own beer because he couldn’t afford to buy it. He was so successful that Bay Area craft brewer Gordon Biersch offered him $5,000 for the recipe, which he declined. Bierhaus serves lunch and dinner daily and is located at 383 Castro Street, Mountain View, California. For more information, visit http://www.bierha.us.
