Six months after Microsoft launched the latest version of its pro-series Windows tablet and began marketing it to users of Apple laptops, the company posted a guide to its website designed to help people make the switch from OS X to Windows 8.1. The guide, which can be found at microsoft.com/switch, contains none of the swagger from Microsoft’s advertisements for the tablet, which frequently take potshots at a MacBook in favor of the Surface.

The mini-site includes a guide for moving content from OS X to Windows, and even tips on using an iPhone, iTunes and iCloud with Microsoft’s operating system. Looking over the site, it feels reminiscent of Apple’s own site for switchers to its platform from Windows, and I doubt that’s a coincidence.

This isn’t the first time Microsoft has tried to entice Mac users to a Surface Pro 3, either. Earlier this year, the company offered up to $650 to people who traded in their old Apple hardware for a new tablet.

As Ed Bott notes on ZDNet, Apple has also tried similar tactics over the years with its own campaigns trying to get Windows users to switch to Mac.
