A Smart Lightbulb Controlled By Your SmartPhone

Following
This article is more than 9 years old.

When Thomas Edison patented the first lightbulb in 1879, he probably didn't think it would get this far.  Philips even created the EnduraLED 10W A19 Dimmable light bulb which can last up to 30,000 hours, around 20 years. That light bulb only uses 10 watts of energy and according to Phillips, that's 83 percent more efficient than 60-watt incandescents.

More and more intelligence is being built into electronic devices as each new generation comes to market and in the age of the Internet of Things and connected devices, even the light bulb can be a part of this revolution.

A company called Lifx jumps on that bandwagon and has introduced a smart LED lightbulb you can control with your smartphone. The Lifx lightbulb has it all. It's a multi-color, wifi enabled energy efficient LED bulb that you can customize. You can choose the color of light you want in your home when you want the light or to fit your mood. Want to ease into your day when you wake up?  Change the color of light to soft blue to stimulate calmness and peace. You can also control the timing of the light -- dimming as you go to sleep or on waking. Anything you want.

The Lifx smart bulb is also energy efficient and claims to have a light life of 23 years, 40,000 hours. Just replace your existing bulbs and smart light is all yours.
