SAN FRANCISCO--()--Vurb, a new iPhone app that connects users to all the information and apps they need to get things done quickly on their smartphone, announced today that it is now available on the Apple App Store. Vurb, the winner of TechCrunch Disrupt NY 2014, pulls content from multiple apps into one simple view, providing both an actionable and richer search experience, while saving time when doing things such as “planning a date night” or “searching for the best museums.” Information found on Vurb is presented as interactive “Vurb Cards” and can be compiled into “Vurb Decks” that can be shared with friends, on social media, and with other Vurb users. Vurb’s interactive Cards link to a multitude of services like Yelp, Rotten Tomatoes, and CBS Interactive’s Metacritic to provide the most relevant information.

“With over 1.4 million iPhone apps, it’s incredibly difficult to know and find which apps are most useful to get things done on your phone,” said Bobby Lo, Founder and CEO of Vurb. “Mobile apps live in silos and seldom offer people ways to integrate or share information with each other. Vurb removes this barrier by connecting the most relevant apps for you to quickly find the information you need throughout your day. We also make it incredibly easy to organize and share the information you find.”

Vurb is launching today with search categories focused on Places, Movies, TV, Videos, and Music and leveraging partnerships with services like Tastemade and Foursquare to deliver contextualized results based on the user’s location, as well as ratings, reviews, and rankings. The experience on Vurb provides users with richer functionality than the traditional list of “blue links” – such as movie review snippets, music lyrics, and reservations.

“Vurb is solving an important problem for anyone with a mobile device,” said Geoff Yang, Partner at Redpoint Ventures. “The shift to mobile necessitates a more contextual approach to functions like search in order to find, discover, and plan what you want to do in the offline world. We believe that Vurb has the technology and team that will make it one of the best ways to get things done on mobile.”

Vurb users can follow friends’ Decks or publicly shared Decks from other people on Vurb they admire or share common interests. Several celebrities and tastemakers are already using Vurb, including Chef Michael Mina who has curated Vurb Decks like “Best Places in the U.S. for Cocktails” and “Favorite Insider Spots,” and Jeffrey Zurofsky, Co-Host of Bravo TV’s Best New Restaurant show, who has curated a Deck of “San Francisco Restaurants.”
