Wolfenstein: The Old Blood, Is The New Order Prequel You'd Kill For

"Before the 'New Order', there was... 'The Old Blood'."

During GDC, Bethesda announced that MachineGames will be releasing a prequel "to everyone’s favorite Nazi-blasting first-person shooter of 2014" (do zombie games count or something?): Wolfenstein: The New Order. And based on the trailer, it looks awesome.

Wolfenstein The Old Blood

The Old Blood acts like an expansion, but a standalone one (much like how Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon worked). It'll be available for the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, and costs the same for each: $19.99. At least for now, this is going to be a download-only game.

Assuming the role once again of BJ Blazkowicz, players will progress through the game via eight parts that seem to act as chapters. The ultimate goal is to locate General Deathshead’s compound, and I'm sure it's not hard to figure out what will happen from there.

For those wanting to get a taste of what the game offers, Bethesda is going to be hosting a livestream on Twitch.tv at 10:30AM EST on both Friday and Saturday. What you can expect to see are some seriously cool graphics, new weapons, as well as some interesting gameplay mechanics.

Fortunately, those looking forward to the game won't have to wait too long: It's set to be released on May 5th. If there's one thing I've learned from this announcement, it's that I really should play The New Order.
