HP is acquiring the Stackato product and team from ActiveState, a provider of software application development and management solutions.
Stackato is ActiveState’s enterprise-ready PaaS technology.
In a blog post, HP said, “Stackato’s open technology built on Cloud Foundry PaaS gives HP a more complete cloud offering. Complementing the HP Helion Development platform, the technology helps customers bring applications to market more rapidly by reducing the amount of time spent on IT configuration.”
According to ActiveState customer studies, Stackato enables enterprise customers to deliver applications 30 times faster than the traditional development cycle with a 90 percent cost reduction.
HP and ActiveState have been partnering since 2012.
After the transaction closes, Stackato will become part of HP’s Cloud business. ActiveState’s current Stackato team of developers will work alongside the HP team within the Cloud business.
**"**HP’s acquisition of Stackato further demonstrates our commitment to Cloud Foundry technology and broadens our hybrid cloud capabilities. Expanding our presence in the Cloud Foundry community is critical to our strategy of helping enterprises transition from traditional IT systems to a hybrid infrastructure. In 2014 alone, the Cloud Foundry community has seen a 36 percent increase in community contributions and more than 1,700 requests to improve functionality or implement bug fixes, and it is well-positioned to gain more influence," the company added.
