Attention: jailbreakers and would-be jailbreakers!
TaiG, the Chinese jailbreaking team that has been thanked in Apple patch notes for exposing iOS vulnerabilities, has just released a new jailbreak tool for Mac that will allow you to run unsigned code on any iOS 8.4 device. Hurrah!
The process of jailbreaking is so simple, anyone can do it.
All you do is download and install the app, then plug your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch to the computer, disabling ‘Find My iPhone’ on your device’s iCloud settings before you do so. From there, you run the jailbreak, and install Cydia and an optional ‘3k Assistant Package’ with just a couple clicks. A reboot or two later, and your device will be jailbroken.
As a note, unless you’re a Chinese jailbreaker, you probably want to uncheck 3k Assistant when you jailbreak your device. 3k Assistant is an app that includes a repository for software, a discussion forum, and other information for Chinese jailbreakers, but it’s not really all that relevant to a mass audience. Probably best not to install it.
Remember: always back up your device before doing a jailbreak.
This follows the TaiG team’s earlier release of a Windows-only version of the jailbreak in late June.
The TaiG jailbreak is untethered, which means, unlike some more limited jailbreaks, you don’t have to re-jailbreak your device every time its rebooted.
