Best Apple Watch Apps For College & University Students

By Sonya Davidson

You're off to college or university and whether it's your first year, or your last, the new school year brings a lot of excitement and okay, a little stress especially if you've moved away from home. You may find yourself in a totally new city for school. You've got to make new friends, get organized, and stay focused for the year to come.

We've been playing around with the Apple Watch as well to see how it helps us navigate through our daily life to bring you some handy ways to keep on top of things. So, here are some Apple Watch apps that can help you do that!

WHERE AM I?

Finding your way around a new campus, or new city, can be daunting especially for new students. You have to worry about getting from A to B on time and in the most efficient way. You can use Maps on the Apple Watch that allows you to get directions from where you are and get information or the Transit App that helps guide you around a busy city with real-time public transit updates, including delays and will also give you estimated times on just how fast you need to hustle. Big cities like Toronto, Boston, Chicago that have Uber services can be accessed on the Watch as well. Great for those moments when you've spent all your cash, er... on books, and need a ride to get back to residence.

GET ORGANIZED

You've got a laptop, an iPad and a phone. because you're a multi-device user sometimes it's hard to remember where files are being saved. Evernote syncs notes, contacts and appointments across all your devices so you'll always be on top of your files. Class Timetable helps you keep track of classes and adds events to your week's schedule with ease. Love having checklists? Then Todoist app offers simple and handy checklist for Watch users.

WHERE TO GRAB SOME GRUB?

Yelp is great to help you discover where to grab something other than the same old cafeteria food or to find the nearest wi-fi friendly coffee shop when you need. Need a slice? Pizza Pizza's app allows you to conveniently place pizza orders while you're on the go. But you don't want to fall down the rabbit hole of the infamous "Freshman 15" so...

AVOIDING THE "FRESHMAN 15"

Track all your steps and feel good about yourself and your fitness goals throughout the school year. The built-in Activity tracker helps you monitor your fitness progress. It will even tell you to get up and move around if you've been hard at work homework for too long. Manage your health and nutrition through apps like Nike+ Running. At a glance users can get a quick view of the Nike+ leaderboard to see how you're doing. Actionable notifications on the Watch allws you to send a quick cheer of encouragement to a friend on a run. Access your discance, duration and pace right on the Watch. LifeSum app helps you keep track of your daily calories and how much water you've been consumed.

WHERE MY PEEPS AT?

Of course you can stay connnected with your favourite friends by quickly and easily communicating on the Watch via dictated message or preloaded text responses. But sending an unexpected digital touch drawing, emoticon or even your heartbeat can help keep loneliness at bay. That's what friends are for, right? Need to find your friends at school events? Use 4sq's check-in app Swarm to see where they're at.

CAPTURE THE MOMENTS

So much is going on in your life right now and you don't want to miss a thing. Capture your experiences and keep them in Day One a great daily journal app. Quickly add a journal entry through your Watch. Rewind app gives a photo recap of your most memorable moments to share. You can also access popular social sharing apps like Instagram, Snapchat (for sharing), Twitter, and Pinterest.
