How to add multiple Instagram accounts on your iPhone

Multiple accounts are available now in Instagram, at long last (and officially, too). But the process of configuring more than one account inside the free Facebook-owned application isn’t immediately apparent.

Why multiple accounts?

There are plenty of reasons why you might want to run more than one Instagram account from your iPhone. You might use personal and professional Instagram accounts, either as two separate “people” (you could be an educator and have a teacher’s Instagram account, for instance, as well as your own personal account), or it could be you wish to run an account for your business.

On the other hand, you might run an Instagram account for your pet (this is a lot more common than you might think), or you could share an iOS device with another person. Yet regardless of your motive, it is possible to add another account to the Instagram app. Here’s how you can do it.

How you can do it

In the Instagram app on your iPhone, you’ll need to tap the account button in the bottom-right corner of the screen, then hit the settings cog wheel in the top-right.

Next, hit the “Add Account” button towards the bottom of the screen (it’s colored blue, and is listed under “Clear Search History”). From here, you’ll be directed over to the new sign-up screen for Instagram, allowing folks to register for a further account or to sign-in with a preconfigured one. It’s all as simple as that, provided you know where to look (the “Add Account” option is low down the settings interface, so you’ll need to scroll to get to it).

After you’re all configured, switching between accounts is simple. Tap the account tab, then hit your Instagram username before choosing from all of your configured accounts. You can also add a further account from this interface, too.

Instagram is available free of charge, and it’s optimized for the iPhone/iPod touch and Apple Watch.
