You've been saying the name of just about every single Apple product all wrong.
That's according to Phil Schiller, Apple's global head of marketing — someone who should know. The executive used Twitter on Thursday to lay down some bombshells about the correct way to handle Apple product names.
Turns out, you never pluralise the names of Apple products. Take the iPad Pro. What do you say when you have a few of them — iPad Pros, right?
Wrong. It's iPad Pro devices.
Apple product names apparently work for both the singular and the plural form, if you don't want to add the extra word. So the plural of the Macintosh would either be "3 Macintosh computers," or just "3 Macintosh," Schiller said.
"Words can be both singular and plural," he explained, even if seems counterintuitve, "such as deer and clothes." One deer, ten deer. One iPhone, ten iPhone (or ten iPhone phones).
With that said, Apple doesn't seem to follow its own rule all that strictly. Its marketing material and press releases sometimes refer to "iPhones." So it's possible — even probable — that Schiller is pulling our legs.
