Windows 10 Mobile Insider Preview Build 14342 Reissued with Bug Fixes

Last night, Microsoft reissued Windows 10 Mobile Insider Preview build 14342 to testers on the Fast Ring, adding a few bug fixes, including a “hot pocket” battery life issue on the Lumia 930 and Icon.

In reissuing the build, Microsoft did increment the build number slightly, from 14342.1003 to 14342.1004. Microsoft reports that it is “exactly the same” as the original release of this build, aside from the bug fixes for certain devices. And it’s still available only to Fast ring testers.

As you may recall, this build mirrors 14342 on the PC—which is now two weeks old and overdue for a refresh—and adds a few new features, including:

Swipe navigation in Microsoft Edge. As requested, Microsoft has brought swipe gestures for navigate back and forward to Edge. This was previously a feature of Mobile IE in earlier Windows Phone OSes. Now, you can now swipe anywhere on the page to go back to the previous web page.

Infrastructure for apps for websites. You can’t really do anything with this now, but Microsoft has added the underlying capability to redirect certain web sites to open with an app instead. You will see a new page in Settings, System called Apps for Websites that will eventually let you manage this feature.

Feedback Hub improvements. When you create new feedback, the Feedback Hub will now suggest categories and sub-categories based on the title and description you entered.

Remember, too, that this build no longer includes Wi-Fi Sense, that controversial/non-controversial feature that no one was apparently using.
