Apple pulls plug on Thunderbolt display
Apple has pulled the plug on its thousand-dollar Thunderbolt display, which was first introduced back in July 2011.

"We're discontinuing the Apple Thunderbolt Display," Apple told iMore. "It will be available through Apple.com, Apple's retail stores and Apple Authorized Resellers while supplies last. There are a number of great third-party options available for Mac users."
By modern standards where 5K wide-gamut displays are common, Apple's Thunderbolt display is pretty long in the tooth - the 2560×1440 pixel resolution, the 720p forward-facing camera, and the FireWire 800 port all make it a bit of an antique.
Pundits and analysts had predicted that Apple would pull the plug on this display, but it has been widely expected that Apple would unveil a new, updated model at WWDC 2016. That didn't happen, and that means that right now there's a gap in Apple's hardware lineup.
